About Wilson Street Gallery

In 2009, Wilson Street Gallery presents a richly varied program, building on the successes of our first two years.  New exhibitions by established gallery artists Ben Hall, Hanna Kay, Michael Keighery and Graham Kuo, will demonstrate their capacity to continually challenge the boundaries of their genres.   They are joined by an impressive group of their peers as we welcome Suzanne Archer, Kate Briscoe and Fan Dongwang to our stable.  Young blood is vital to health of our program.   We introduce Californian painter Roni Feldman, French mixed media artist Laure Molina, Melbourne based fresco painter Sarah Tomasetti and Ross Thornton from Sydney with his linear abstract wall montages.

In a world of global reverberation, we are reminded that Western art is a confluence of the domestic idiom and inspiration from other cultures, societies and bold new techniques emerging from artist communities across the globe.  Our artists come to Australia from China, England, Israel, Europe and the USA and the variety of their work celebrates the variety of their backgrounds.

In 2009 our exhibitions promise to be thoughtful, irreverent, challenging and beautiful.  There will be vibrant lyrical abstraction, a pop art fusion, dreamlike waterscapes, figurative expressionism, ceramic reliefs, evocative mixed media works – a cornucopia of textures, colours, shapes, paintings, drawings, sculptures, prints and ceramics.

In 2009 our clients will benefit from our permanent stockroom and occasional alternative exhibition space in the Back Street.  Here you will find works from all our gallery artists, and be introduced to local new artists who are striving to achieve a respected place in the Sydney Art scene.  Without experimentation and new ideas, our Gallery will not be able to see beyond the horizon.  Back Street excites us.

We look forward to building trust with our clients and supporters.  Art is a well-spring of creativity.  Those who place art at the centre of their lives ensure that this wellspring is replenished.
